PROMOFEST opens the call for entries of SHORT OF THE YEAR - AUTUMN. The winner will receive a super distribution award consisting in more than 1000 submissions to film festivals worldwide!

Every season 50 works will be selected. The winner of each season will be awarded with 250 submissions to film festivals (for free) and will directly become one of the films selected for the Short of the Year. The grand prize consists in 1000 submissions to festivals (for free).

In January 2011 "Porque hay cosas que nunca se olvidan…” a short film by Lucas Figueroa distributed by PROMOFEST won the Guinness Award to the most awarded short film throughout cinema history. This award was the impetus for creating EL CORTO DEL AÑO (recently named SHORT OF THE YEAR). The winner of the first edition (2012) was LA MIRADA PERDIDA by Damian Dionisio. MI OJO DERECHO by Josecho Linares won the 2013 edition. The next edition (2014) won O MENINOS DO RIO by Javier Macipe. In 2015 was ex-aequo with LISTEN, by Hamy Ramezan and Rungano Nyoni and WHALE WALLEY, by Gudmundur Arnar Gudmundsson. GETTING FAT IN A HEALTHY WAY by Kevork Aslanyan won in the fifth edition, and the best Short of the Year of 2017 was LOST FACE by Sean Meehan. In 2018 was GAME, by Jeannie Donohoe and 2019 was given to 2nd CLASS by Jimmy Olsson. All of them have been sent to hundreds of festivals, winning over audiences and juries worldwide.
