Sinopsis / Synopsis

Cuando Yohan y Julie quieren comprar un nuevo apartamento, están divididos en los porcentakes. Julie gana más que su compañera, una excampeona de MMA. Para responder a una necesidad de igualdad, Yohan vuelve a competir, poniendo en peligro incluso el equilibrio de su familia.

While Yohan and Julie want to buy a new apartment, they are divided on the proportionate share. Julie earns more than her companion, a former MMA champion. To answer a need of equality, Yohan comes back to competition even to put the equilibrium of their familly in danger.

THOMAS VAN ZUYLEN (Lieja, BÉLGICA, 1982). Graduado del Instituto de Artes de Radiodifusión en Bélgica, comenzó su carrera en el documental al estilo "cine directo" con: "Prime Minister or Nothing", "Do not wait, do not hope, give everything" y "Crimes of Artists". Su carrera documental lo llevó a escribir junto con Joachim Lafosse: "The White Knights" (Festival de cine de San Sebastián), "After Love" (Festival de Cannes / La Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) y "Sigue adelante" (Festival de cine de Venecia). "Sparring Partners" es su primer cortometraje como director.

THOMAS VAN ZUYLEN (Liège, BELGIUM, 1982). Graduated from the Institute of Broadcasting Arts in Belgium, he began his career in documentary in the style “direct cinema” with : "Prime Minister or Nothing", "Do not wait, do not hope, give everything" and "Crimes of Artists". His documentary career led him to co-write with Joachim Lafosse : "The White Knights"(San Sebastian film festival), "After Love"(Cannes festival/ la Quinzaine des Réalisateurs) and "Keep going"(Venise film festival). "Sparring Partners" is his first short film as a director.
