María, una mujer de 78 años, gana un concurso de belleza llamado: Abuela del año. Para María, ser una reina de belleza fue una de las mayores ilusiones de su vida. Hoy, después de casi un año de ser seleccionada embajadora de las abuelas en su ciudad, debe preparar su discurso de despedida y pasarle la faja a la próxima abuela.

Maria, a 78-year-old woman, wins a beauty pageant called: Granny of the Year. For Maria, being a beauty queen was one of the greatest illusions in her life. Today, after almost a year of being selected the ambassador of the grandmas in her town, she must prepare her farewell speech and pass the sash to the next Granny.

OLIVIA LUENGAS MAGAÑA (MÉXICO, 1981) Directora y DOP, graduada de Artes Audiovisuales de la U de G. Ha trabajado como DOP en proyectos como Maripepa y The Naptime. Para Lejos de significado, su primera película, recibió el fondo Proyecta del Ministerio de Cultura de Jalisco, el Fondo Tribeca para América Latina y el apoyo de la Fundación Grodman UDG-USA. Actualmente dirige Phonocular, un estudio de producción y postproducción documental.

OLIVIA LUENGAS MAGAÑA (MEXICO, 1981) Director and DOP, graduate of Audiovisual Arts from the U de G. Has worked as DOP in projects such as Maripepa and The Naptime. For Away from Meaning, her first film, she received the Proyecta fund from the Ministry of Culture of Jalisco, the Tribeca Latin America Fund and the support of Grodman Foundation UDG-USA. She currently heads Phonocular, a documentary production and post-production studio.
